Lake City Family Housing is Underway! We celebrated in style on Aug 15 with the official groundbreaking, but our team has been hard at work since July 6 building the foundation for this exciting project. LIHI’s Lake City Family Housing is set to become a valued community resource that combines housing and education. In addition to providing 70 affordable apartments, the six-story building will be home to a 6,600 SF preschool managed by Refugee Women’s Alliance, offering early education for up to 80 children, and featuring a colorful and playful façade designed by Runberg. The project also supports the community with an accessible, walkable location close to parks and shopping centers, a library, and community resources like Literacy Source, which offers adult education classes.
The Evergreen project will have a green roof, a solar array, and resident gardens. Sustainable features include storm water infiltration, sound moderating windows, and enhanced building envelope design.
RDF is self-performing the earthwork, concrete, misc. metals, WRB and windows, and cabinet installation. The 68,100 SF project is on track to complete in 2018. Crews will be moving quickly on to the next phase of work and will soon be installing the underground utilities and pouring the slab on grade. Kudos to Greg Linnell, Nathan Connaway, Tanner Romo, BJ Graham and Wendy Kato at the helm!
