A 20-Year Partnership Rooted in Care
Senior living construction has long been a meaningful part of Walsh’s work across the Pacific Northwest. Throughout our Washington and Oregon regions, Walsh has completed more than 40 senior living projects over the last decade alone, with experience spanning independent living communities, affordable senior housing, memory care, occupied campus renovations, and resident-centered amenities. Projects such as Emerald Heights, The Hearthstone, and eliseo reflect the range of this expertise, from building around occupied campuses to creating new housing and community spaces designed specifically for older adults. That expertise has shaped our work with Wesley: planning carefully, communicating clearly, protecting daily operations, and building with respect for the people who call these communities home.
At the center of Wesley’s work is a deep commitment to older adults and the belief that every resident deserves to age with respect and dignity. As a faith-based, nonprofit organization, Wesley’s mission is to enrich the lives of older adults by providing high-quality retirement housing, health care, and a continuous network of supportive services. That mission has guided the growth of their campuses over time and shaped the spaces Walsh has helped bring to life.
For over 20 years, Walsh has had the privilege of building alongside Wesley as their senior living communities have grown, adapted, and evolved to serve new generations of residents. The partnership began with Wesley Lea Hill, which Walsh built in 2007 and included independent apartments, catered living, and memory care. From that first project, the relationship has continued across campuses and phases of work, rooted in trust, careful planning, and a shared commitment to creating places where older adults can feel safe, connected, and at home.

At the heart of this work is a simple goal: to support communities that can meet residents where they are, both now and in the future. As the need for comfortable, connected senior living continues to grow, Wesley has continued to invest in housing options, campus amenities, care spaces, and gathering places that support aging in place and enhance daily life.
Across each phase, Walsh’s role has gone beyond building new spaces. Our teams have worked within active senior living campuses, around residents, staff, visitors, daily programming, meals, deliveries, and healthcare services, with a focus on maintaining safe access and minimizing disruption. In every phase, the work has required not only construction expertise, but care, coordination, and an understanding of daily life within a senior living community.
Transforming the Des Moines Campus
Following the work at Lea Hill, much of Walsh and Wesley’s shared story unfolded on the Wesley Des Moines campus, where years of thoughtful redevelopment have reshaped the community while honoring its role as a home for residents.

Continuing the Campus Evolution
Today, Walsh’s work on the Des Moines campus continues. Our team is currently renovating the dining room and kitchen on the main floor of The Terrace, while also transforming The Terrace Auditorium into a new Performing Arts Center. These spaces are central to campus life, supporting events, gatherings, meals, and shared experiences that help make Wesley feel like a community.
The next chapter is also underway with Creekside, Phase 5 of the campus redevelopment. Located on the site of the former care center, Creekside will bring just over 106 new independent living apartments across four floors and is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2027. As the campus continues to evolve, this phase represents another step in Wesley’s investment in modern, flexible spaces that support residents today while planning for the future.
Growing the Partnership at Bradley Park
Walsh’s partnership with Wesley extends beyond Des Moines. Our team is also currently working on the Wesley Bradley Park campus in Puyallup, continuing the same resident-centered approach that has shaped our work together for two decades.
Once complete, the Bradley Park campus will include a new Brownstone with 67 apartments, as well as the new Barndt Family Rehabilitation & Care Center, featuring private suites and an expanded fitness center with a swimming pool. Like the work in Des Moines, this project reflects Wesley’s commitment to creating senior living environments that are welcoming, functional, and built to support residents through many stages of life.

Building with Care on Active Senior Living Campuses
Behind each phase of the Wesley Des Moines campus redevelopment has been a consistent presence: Walsh Superintendent Anthony Mizin. Anthony has served as superintendent throughout the entire Des Moines campus redevelopment, helping guide the work as the campus has grown and evolved over the years.
His role has extended beyond coordinating construction in the field. Because the work has taken place on an active senior living campus, communication with residents has been an important part of the process. Through monthly campus updates, Anthony helps keep residents informed about upcoming work, project progress, and what to expect as construction continues around the place they call home.
That steady communication reflects the care required when building in an occupied senior living community. Construction does not happen apart from daily life; it happens alongside residents, staff, visitors, meals, activities, deliveries, and healthcare services that need to continue safely every day.

Across Walsh’s work with Wesley, our teams have prioritized thoughtful phasing, clear site logistics, safe pedestrian routes, coordinated deliveries, and careful planning around occupied buildings. With Anthony’s long-term leadership on site and close collaboration with Wesley staff, each phase has been approached with the same goal: to minimize disruption while supporting the campus’ continued growth.
For residents, these campuses are home. Our work is planned with that in mind.
A Partnership Built Over Time
Walsh’s 20-year relationship with Wesley has been built one project, one campus, and one shared challenge at a time. From Lea Hill to the multi-phase redevelopment of the Des Moines campus and current work at Bradley Park, each project has deepened our understanding of Wesley’s operations, goals, and communities, allowing our teams to bring lessons learned into the next phase of work.
That continuity matters. In senior living environments, construction decisions affect more than buildings; they affect residents’ routines, staff operations, family visits, and the overall sense of comfort on campus. Through long-term collaboration, Walsh and Wesley have developed a shared approach rooted in planning, communication, respect, and follow-through.
As Wesley continues to evolve its campuses for the next generation of residents, Walsh is proud to help bring that vision to life. Together, this work reflects a long-standing commitment to creating senior living communities that are safe, connected, welcoming, and built with care.
