Asian Health and Service Center

Built on a highly compressed schedule and tight urban site, the Asian Health and Service Center serves more than 10,000 AAPI individuals living in the tri-county Portland Metropolitan Area. This three-story, 30,000 SF structural steel, mixed-use building features clinic space, administrative headquarters, and multipurpose community rooms. The project team worked with numerous suppliers, subcontractors, consultants, and emerging businesses to maximize opportunities for BIPOC and woman-owned enterprises. Ultimately, the project achieved 30% minority/women-owned/emerging small business (MWESB) participation for the construction team with a 20% goal for construction.

This project allowed the Asian Health and Service Center (AHSC) to expand and add new programming for cultural and language-specific preventive and integrated health care for both the AAPI and broader Lents community. AHSC partnered closely with DHS to provide information and application assistance for the community to utilize broader state and local health services. The ground floor houses a commercial space occupied by Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic. Its second floor contains office space and conference rooms for community use, and the top floor features a 6,000 SF multipurpose hall for community events as well as consulting rooms, resource library, commercial kitchen and an outdoor terrace with a movable storefront for all-season use.
