Here are a few commonly received questions and other helpful information related to working at WALSH.

  1. What is your construction Management Trainee program?

Within our Construction Management Program, our focus on field-first, builder knowledge will expose you to a variety of project types and leadership styles.  As an upcoming or recent college graduate joining the program, you would begin in the field as a Project Engineer, where you are paired with a seasoned project team. This team will partner with you, providing mentorship as you determine your goals and next career steps.  For more information, or to apply, check out our opportunities here.

  1. Do you have a bonus program?

Yes! We offer a very generous bonus to full-time employees after their first anniversary with the company.

  1. For commuters, do you offer help with transit costs?

Yes we do! Upon hire, your supervisor and/or HR team will advise you on what’s available to you.

  1. Do you utilize Section 3 hiring?

We believe in Section 3 project hiring goals and have seen, firsthand, the difference these opportunities can make in people’s lives. Through our efforts to train and mentor new employees, we have enabled many individuals to start careers in construction, and have the ability to maximize hiring qualified Section 3 workers. Our approach to Section 3 hiring is focused on creating career opportunities, not just temporary jobs.

  1. Tell me more about your pre-apprenticeship program work:

We work to assist people by enrolling in pre-apprenticeship programs such as Constructing Hope, POIC+RAHS, Oregon Tradeswomen Inc., and Portland YouthBuilders. Our involvement in these organizations is multi-faceted, extending from board memberships and financial support, to hiring graduates and helping them find placement with subcontractors.
